FBFF: I Am Grateful For...

1. When it comes to be personally – I owe a lot of who I am to:

My family, specifically my mother. I know you probably had those moment when you were younger, much like myself, where you didn't think you were anything like your parents and they didn't understand ANYTHING about you. But, I realize as I get older while there are things about my personality that are unique to me there is so much of it that resembles my mother. I'm ok with that, she's a pretty snazzy lady!

2. When it comes to be professionally – I owe a lot of who I am to:

I think at this point I owe a lot to my old boss. While I have been working in some capacity since I was 12, those 2.5 years I spent there were such an amazing learning experience for me and he taught me so much! As much as his knowledge, as well as, other tidbits I've picked up throughout the years have guided me towards a career where I actually really enjoy what I do I wouldn't be anything without the work ethic that I have which 100% comes from how I was raised and they example my parents set for me when I was growing up.

3. When it comes to the art of blogging, I’m grateful to these people for helping me through some rough spots:

I wouldn't say that this is "art" for me but, that's besides the point. I am very grateful to all the bloggers who stepped in and wrote guest posts for me while I was on vaca:
They are all fantastic ladies!!

4. One blogging challenge I’m grateful happened because it made me stronger was…

This schedule thing has really thrown me for a loop but, all I know it that my resolve hasn't wavered. I still want to keep going with another 260 Days, No Repeats!

5. To my readers, I’d like to say…

YOU'RE AWESOME, thanks for coming back and checking me out day after day or whenever it is you get a chance. I would not have been so consistent with either part of this challenge (no repeats/limited shopping) if it wasn't for you! You're comments always put a smile on my face and I can't wait to hear what you have to say next!! We should all go grab dinner sometime...

April 11, 2011: Wrapped In Bits Of Silver

So we are having some difficulties over here in 260 Days, No Repeats world. I can't find the charger for my camera battery so, it was a process to get the pictures of the memory card but, here they are. I found a fairly inexpensive one on Amazon so I might have to bite the bullet because I have absolutely no idea where the charger might be!

Now let's cheer each other up and focus on something else like, this awesome shirt. I love the little silver pieces sewn in near the collar, they almost look like a necklace. All in all it's a triple threat: inexpensive, stylish, and comfortable! That's what I want my entire wardrobe to be!! What's would your triple threat consist of?
  • Top: navy silver square t-shirt, Merona via Target (on sale here); brown jacket, LOFT
  • Bottombeige tweed Ann Taylor Loft skirt via Mom who thrifted
  • Shoes & Accessoriesgray pumps, Steve Madden; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.brown suede purse with silver leaf embellishments, GAP (not pictured)

April 8, 2011: Colorblind Again?

This is where things get totally bonkers; I was really reaching for thing that I have not worn in the parameters of what I wanted to wear today. Does that make sense? I think so... In other words I didn't want to force myself to wear something just because it had never been worn if I wasn't feeling it. This outfit took some stretching but, in the end I like the color combination and it's comfy. I can't say that this dress works as well as a skirt compared to others but, it gets the job done. This outfit isn't that crazy right?
  • Top: navy boatneck sweater, LOFT; khaki safari jacket, LOFT (same jacket different color here, here, and here)
  • Bottom: coral sundress as skirt, LOFT
  • Shoes & Accessories: bronze flats, Me Too via DSW; rainbow beaded earrings, Moxie Bee; rainbow beaded necklace, Moxie Bee; gold chain necklace, V'ta Jewelry; purple tote bag, Coach

Items from this outfit are previously seen and remixed here, here, and here.

FBFF: Spring Trends

What are the top 5 Spring trends that you are looking forward to seeing/sporting this season?

  1. Wide Leg Pants - I have learned to appreciate skinny pants and jeggings as much as the next girl but, my first love is a wide leg pant! This is definitely the trend that I am most excited for.
  2. Animal Print - I feel like animal prints are one of the spot on trends every other season which in my mind makes them more classic than anything else.
  3. Longer Skirts - I wasn't sure that maxi dresses would work for me but, I have found ways to make that happen and they are so comfortable and easy I don't know why I ever questioned it.
  4. Bright Colors - This is one trend that I am more excited to see other people wear although, I'm sure I could rock the coral color that everyone is loving!
  5. Stripes - I feel the same way about stripes that I do about animal prints, you hear about them every other season especially with all the nautical stuff that was going on last spring and before that... classic!
I think it might be time for another "You've Got This" Week... What spring trend are you most excited about?

April 7, 2011: Late Night, Early Morning

Last night I went to a "secret" V'ta Jewelry sale and was out quite past my bedtime looking at pretty sparkly things, enjoying the good company of friends, and drinking rosé. It was a great night but, I had trouble tearing myself away from my bed this morning. It's a good thing I managed to take pictures on Sunday so I had an outfit in mind when I finally got up. Thankfully tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend which will be really relaxing and fun jam packed and super busy, wait that's wrong...

  • Topyellow striped faux wrap shirt, New York & Company (same shirt different color here and here) with a tank top underneath for the modesty; black blazer, Ann Taylor (not pictured)
  • Bottomgray pants, New York and Company

April 6, 2011: Polka Dot Tail

This is where things start to get a little wonky in terms of my outfit choices. What do I mean by that? Well, I can see why these things have been hanging out in my closet unworn for a while. They have a slightly funny fit, seasonal limitations, or they are less than appropriate for work. This dress is the latter; while the length and fit are good, the straps and bust area are completely inappropriate in general let alone in the office. I've only ever worn it with a cropped jacket to an evening event. While all the difficulties regarding this particular clothing item are true there is no point in keeping it if I am not going to wear it so, what is easier than using the dress as a skirt? What is one of your harder to style clothing items and how do you make it work?
  • Topred short sleeve embellished t-shirt, New York & Company (same shirt different color herehere, here); black flyaway cardigan, August Silk via TJ Maxx
  • Bottom: black and white polka dot dress as skirt, Merona for Target
  • Shoes & Accessories: silver hardware embellished flats, Preview via Nordstrom Rack; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; purple tote bag, Coach (not pictured)

Giveaway: Automatic Watches from Orient Watch USA

I bought myself a very lovely watch when I got my first full time job after college as a way of telling the world, "I am a grown up now!" Granted I have been through two of them so, obviously I'm not as grown up as I thought I was. While pondering the possibility of a new watch someone bought my attention to Orient Watch USA. There are many fantastic styles like  CFTAB002B and CEVAD003W to give a few examples. I will be giving away the watch below for Women in red, blue, pink, green, or in khaki for Men. The choice is up to you.

This giveaway will be until March 19, 2011 and is open to ALL readers in the USA! I will pick the winner via Excel/random.org. Here are the rules: become a follower in Google (if you aren't already) and leave a comment on this post telling me how you make the most of your time whether it is watches, to do lists, alarms etc. Also, let me know what color watch you would want. Don't forget to add your email so I can contact you! For bonus entries:

April 5, 2011: Multiple Choice Question

You may think that you have seen this sweater before but, you would be mistaken you might have seen it's sister or maybe it's rando cousin but, this sweater is all new (to you at least.) As I've said before: I'm all about buying multiples. When you find something that works for you at a good price, why not? This sweater was no exception although, it is was a challenge for me to resist the preppy allure of argyle in general. Do you have a favorite clothing item that you buy in multiples? Or when you find something that is perfect for you do you snatch up as many as you can?
  • Top: black, gray, and white argyle sweater, Merona for Target (same sweater different color here, here, and here.)
  • Bottom: gray plaid pencil skirt, AB Studio from Mom via Kohl's
  • Shoes & Accessories: black pumps, Nine West; pearl earrings, pearl earrings, birthday gift from Mom via Macy's; purple tote bag, Coach (not pictured)

April 4, 2011: Let's Get It Started

As you might have already surmised we are going into year two here at 260 Days, No Repeats. I'll talk about the specific rules as I wrap up Year 1 but, I'll let you in one of my main motivators: I still have things in my closet that I have not worn on the blog or on the weekends! It's crazy I know but, this shirt is the perfect example; I got it in August for my birthday and have been saving it for cooler weather. Well, Fall and Winter have passed and it was still hanging out in my closet (pun intended) passed over for other shirts of a gray persuasion. Well, that ended today! I am making an effort this week to focus on things that you have never seen here before. I warn you though, things could get a little crazy... Case and point this out of the box for me crazy wearing my necklace around my collar like some sort of sparkly tie thing but, what can I say? I was inspired by some of my fav other bloggers! What or Who inspires your out of the box wardrobe choices?
  • Top: gray pinstripe button down shirt, The Limited via The Unique Thrift Store
  • Bottom: black pencil skirt, Old Navy
  • Shoes & Accessoriesblack vintage patent leather pumps, Evan Picone via Unique Thrift Store; black and silver statement necklace, Etsy; onyx earrings, V'ta Jewelry; purple tote bag, Coach (not pictured)

Purchases: March 2011

Wow guys I did it again, that makes five months in a row! Given my recent dental plight I don't think I will have any problems not shopping since the bill for the the whole debacle is a pretty penny and then some...

April 1, 2011: April Fools

In actuality I've been wearing the same outfit everyday for the past year, I just like to take pictures of myself! Not really... Sorry, I have no (good) silly little joke to play on you guys. I'm the worst at April Fools.

This sweater was an awesome find at Re-Dress on the day that I played dress up (see my Facebook page.) That excursion wasn't all about crazy blanket pants and maribou feather trimmed sweaters! I was happy to leave with something I could wear to work. What are some of your favorite thrift store finds?
  • Top: pink argyle sweater, IZOD via ReDress
  • Bottom: gray pants, New York and Company
  • Shoes & Accessories black ruffle embellished flats, Audrey Brooke via DSW; pearl earrings, Mom via Macy's; gray le-dix/motorcycle bag, Balenciaga (not pictured)

FBFF: Rules Of Engagement

1. Guest posts are a good way to gain new exposure. What do you think is the appropriate way to go about securing a guest spot?

I've only ever done guest posts when other bloggers have reached out to me. I have never gone looking for the opportunity. I suppose there are some bloggers that I have emailed with on a more social basis that I would be very comfortable reaching out to in terms of "strangers" I would just send them a friendly email.

2. Leaving comments is essential to growing your blog. But how can you leave a comment without coming across as ‘Follow Me. Follow Me!’?

Those comments totally turn me off! I am honestly appalled when people leave them for me or email me with the same sentiment. I try to talk about what the person is wearing or what they were talking about in their post.

3. We’ve all gotten a mass email at one time or another asking for blog exposure, a link exchange, etc… But the mass emails don’t work. How do you make your email stand out from the crowd?

When I do email people it is not with a cookie cutter "link exchange" type of email. It is one that it personal and individualized to whatever I like about their blog or what I would like to collaborate with them on!

4. In interacting with other bloggers where do you draw the line between seeking support and begging for exposure?

I don't think I have ever asked anyone for exposure that seems to similar to, "Follow my blog, I'll follow yours." The only time that I can think of asking for support was when I went on vacation and asked some of my favorite bloggers to guest post while I was gone. While it was more beneficial for me (and all of you awesome readers) it was beneficial on some level for them as well.

5. What’s one rule of engagement error you made and how have you remedied that?

I think I could be more social with other bloggers in terms of emailing with them. I haven't really remedied it but, I'm working on it!
