Summer Casual Friday Uniform

So, last night Thursday night I didn't get home until 11:00pm, the night before that it was 10:00pm, and the night before that it was 8:30pm. Sufficed to say it's been a long week. Last night I was lucky though because instead of taking the train I was chauffeured home care of Hubby/an actual car service. What nice guys! He (Hubby) noted that I have been working really hard and deserved a break. It was appreciated although, I have a fleeting suspicion that he didn't want to have to come and pick me up at the train station if I couldn't make a good connection... Either way I got a ride home after a long week so far and that was nice.

This morning when I woke up I felt that the amount/lack of sleep that I have gotten this week is catching up with me. Thanks goodness I had picked this outfit out in advance! This Friday compilation wasn't too hard to begin with though... Top? Check. Cute skirt? Check. Boat Shoes? Check. I think I could have managed that on the minimal amount of sleep I had. Either way, it is a perfect outfit for a Friday (Saturday or Sunday) in the summer. What is your go to summer ensemble?

I most recently wore this shirt here. I most recently wore this skirt here.

Bright Eyes

This morning was (relatively) smooth sailing despite last night's debauchery. In the earlier part of the evening it was (mostly) professional; discussing the incumbents' next steps, extending well wishes, and getting excited for them to take said steps. By the end of the night it had definitely gotten less professionally focused and became just a bunch of co-workers having a good time which was fine by me. I try to limit my discussions about work when I am outside of work to few and far between, I'm there a good portion of my time anyway, why do I want to talk about it (or things related to it) when I'm not?

Speaking of work... Today is definitely jam packed with meetings, endless emails, and all around non-stop craziness. While I think I am getting things done and keeping afloat I am definitely feeling the effects of this level of intense work under such high level of scrutiny. What does that mean? Bottom line, I'm tired. Thankfully, I see a light at the end of the tunnel! Unfortunately, it's just a tiny pinpoint a long ways away at this juncture. Time to grind.

November 10, 2010: Cold Feet?

Earlier this week I had no idea that people (like me and perhaps you) had off today. I knew it was Veteran's Day and all that but, not that it was recognized by my company as a holiday, everywhere is different. So today I am sitting in the comfort of my own home at 11AM(ish) sipping on a chai tea latte to talk about yesterday's outfit... it's good to have a mini break!

Yesterday was fun because I took some inspiration from other bloggers and wore my tights with open shoes! Maybe not revolutionary to you but, very foreign to me. I kinda liked it! What do you think about the socks and open toe shoe trend? Or how about the boots and knee sock thing?
  • Top: red embellished t-shirt, Van Heusen outlet (same shirt different color here)
  • Bottom: gray wool pencil skirt, Isaac Mizrahi for Target/hemmed by Mom
  • Shoes & Accessories: black patent leather t-strap pumps, LOFT; gray and black houndstooth tights, Merona for Target (similar and on sale here); silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; black spy bag, Fendi

October 6, 2010: It's That Time Of Year

The fall means can mean lots of things to different people like changing leaves, temperatures dropping, and new fashions to name a few. To me it means all these things but, it also means that job fair season has begun! I know I can't contain my excitement either... I got a small taste of it last week but, today and tomorrow I have some big ones. I will probably throw a light blazer over this to enhance the business part of my business casual look! Also, I need to work out a better time to take my pictures; just as I decide I am taking them all outside, it starts getting darker earlier! Boo...
  • Top: red long sleeved t-shirt, Van Heusen via The Outlets
  • Bottoms: brown corduroy skirt, LOFT
  • Shoes & Accessories: purple suede-ish ballet flats, Mossimo for Target; multi colored beaded necklace, LOFT/b-day gift from Mom;

Night Out: 21st Birthday

For my brother's actual birthday BF and I picked him up from work and took him out for a drink. He was actually going to just go to school, work, and home without doing anything to celebrate! Crazy, I know... I started to put together an outfit for going out and realized that I didn't need to be dressed in my normal chic bar going attire. We were just going to a local establishment and I didn't want to be completely overdressed in such a super casual place. So, I revisted what I would wear the bar in my college years...
  • Top: red graphic tee, Noisebot
  • Bottom: trouser jeans, GAP
  • Shoes & Accessories: purple flip flops, Bitten via Steve and Barry's; polka dot scarf, New York and Company. I think the scarf dresses the super casual look up just enough without being over the top; Cerises Pochette, Louis Vuitton. This bag is the perfect size for going out. Just enough room for cash/ID, cell phone, and lipgloss.

August 17, 2010: Hard and Soft

When I was piecing this outfit together this morning. I couldn't help but feel a little like a candystriper. I think it was the pink and stripe combination or more specifically the stripes in this skirt. I think this T-Shirt with a gray pinstripe skirt (note to self: get gray pinstripe skirt) would be great!  But, I digress... I needed to find a way to make this a little less sterile so I have added some chunky accessories and am ready to go! Tomorrow's outfit I might have to plan out tonight when I get home because I have a meeting downtown and I always feel like that creates a new standard of style that I have to meet resulting in a clothes hurricane in my bedroom and tardiness at work. What kind of situations create an new level of pressure or a style challenge for you?
  • Top: light pink Mossimo t-shirt, Mossimo for Target via Mom (similar and on sale here)
  • Bottom: gray and white striped skirt with lace trim, Merona for Target via Unique Thrift Store during "Birthday Beginnings
  • Shoes & Accessories: silver gladiator sandals, Isaac Mizrahi for Target (similar and on sale here); chunky cluster statement necklace, LOFT (similar here); cream Loeffler Randall bag, Target;

June 11, 2010

I am definitely feeling that Friday theme! It has been a looong week. One of the few fun things going on has been this Summer Black-Out Challenge 2010, In retrospect it really wasn't that hard at all but it was, at times, very inconvenient. I applaud Sal and her decision to go all summer without black! I'm sure I could do it but, I think I would get extremely frustrated with that limitation and I want getting dressed to be fun. Therefore, I will allow myself to get back to it and wear black starting Wednesday! (I have a day off on Monday and Tuesday)

In relation to today's outfit: What are you're opinions about graphic t-shirts? During college they were a main staple of my wardrobe but, after graduation I (literally) put them on the shelf and wrote them off. I might have said, at the time, that they were too juvenile but, I really think I just wanted a change of pace. Now that all I wear is business casual they are creeping back into my wardrobe, I'm not sure how I feel about that but, I only kept the ones I love so it can't be all bad, right? For example, today's T says "Haiku's are easy but, sometimes they don't make sense Refrigerator" Hilarious, I know! If you are feeling my t-shirt vibe you can shop the Threadless $10 Sale where ALL T's are $10 until 6/14/10!
  • Top: brown graphic t-shirt, Threadless
  • Bottom: Marisa jeans, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Shoes & Accessories: brown flip flops (shhh don't tell they're not really allowed in the office), Rocket Dog via DSW: Purchase here at 30% off and get free shipping with code 4UDAD until Sunday June 13, 2010; yellow citrine earrings, Elizabeth Showers vintage; limited edition Tracey Emin for Longchamp Pliage via the outlet

Summer Blackout Day 3: This is definitely getting harder! I have work today but, am also going to a concert afterwards at Carnegie Hall so picking an outfit that would transition well (because I am probably not stopping at home to change) with no black was a big challenge considering the evening factor. Lots of things that I would have paired with this shirt or, dresses I would have worn were black or had black in the pattern. I'd like to think I did OK though...
  • Top: purple t-shirt, Xhiliration via Target
  • Bottom: brown pinstripe skirt, New York and Company
  • Shoes & Accessories: silver cut-out flats, Merona for Target (similar here... don't forget if you pick up the June 2010 edition of Real Simple there is a 20% off Merona coupon in there, or you could just rip it out at the checkout... either way); silver beaded necklace, Bitten via Steve & Barry's; Tiffany & Co. silver bead earrings; cream Loeffler Randall bag, Target

April 26, 2010

First of all, how do you like the new logo/banner? It was made by a very talented and creative design team... my mom and I. And, when I say "my mom and I" I mean I had an idea and she completely bought it to life *thanks mom* with a little technical contribution from me. I think it is pretty amazing and love the fact that it looks a little Jordi Labanda-ish, no? Either way, I hope you enjoy it!

This morning is so gloomy and cold (compartively to the past few days) and it's not helping me want to get ready and leave my warm cozy apartment at all. I think someone should tell Monday that they can't be like this and instead they should be sunny and beautiful so I am more motivated! Now we can come back to reality with today's outfit. Please excuse the random shots, I am still trying to get the timing down... is there something on my face?
  • Top: purple 3/4 length sleeve t-shirt, Target
  • Bottom: black and white tweed pants, Mandee. Yes, you read correctlyMandee. I have had these pants since high school. I don't know if that's something to be proud of or not but, they still fit and are still appropriate so... I keep them. Thank you business casual prep school!
  • Shoes & Accessories: black suede Rocket Dog sneaker shoes, today is just the day for things from high school... V'ta coin pearl necklace, Tiffany silver earrings, and the yellow alley bag

April 23, 2010

We are still in keeping with the Friday theme hence the unamused look and the quick and easy front hair poof. Keep tuned for potential "cosmetic" changes over the weekend! To the blog sillies, not me. Items from this outfit are previously seen here but today:
  • Top: yellow short sleeve embellished t-shirt, New York & Company with a gray tank top underneath (for the modesty)
  • Bottom: jeans, GAP outlet
  • Shoes & Accessories: black and white snake print flats, Coconuts via DSW; tourmaline earrings, V'ta; blue Foley & Corrina city clutch via Plaza Too (now that I think about it)

                                      April 21, 2010

I am running super late so here it is, no frills...

                                      • Top: red embellished t-shirt, Van Heusen Outlet. On an aside, when I first thought Van Heusen I envisioned much older women and men in general but, after wandering around their outlet I realized how wrong I was. It's great for affordable good quality basics and the occasional stylin' dress.
                                      • Bottom: black pinstripe Calvin Klein skirt via SYMS. It is part of a suit but, since I don't work in a full blown business formal environment I don't need the jacket. Etiher way though, everyone needs one good suit.
                                      • Shoes & Accessories: black pumps, Steve Madden; Tiffany silver studs and and lastly my blue Foley & Corrina City Clutch.

                                      April 16, 2010

I think the common theme for all Friday posts moving forward from now until forever is, "TGIF, I'm beat!" because I am. But, on to more positive things... last night's surprise was so much fun!!

My suspicions were correct, my awesome BF took me to see Cirque du Soleil's OVO. The bug thing definitely gave me the chill's for a second. What? Maybe I'm weird but, I felt that the grasshopper costumes were surprisingly realistic!! In the end the acrobatics and other spectacular physical feats distracted me and I had so much fun. Click below to flip through my pictures...

Moving right along. You may or may not have noticed that there are lots of buttons in the right toolbar now. They are not advertisements they are just feeds that I have 260 Days, No Repeats with so that I can potentially reach more people. Another change is that I think I am actually going to be in the pictures moving forward. There are some online communities that I would like to join but, they require head to toe shots and Lucy doesn't quite fit the bill. I tried it out this morning (I am exhausted and I look it, rocking that bed head, so please don't judge) and it made getting ready alot faster so, it might become a regular thing. I just need to find a good place to put the camera for timer shots. FYI: I will not be posting an outfit on Monday I have a day off, yay me! But, today...
                                      • Top: pink and blue striped Old Navy t-shirt with a white tank top underneath, New York and Company
                                      • Bottom: jeans, GAP outlet
                                      • Shoes & Accesories: black suede Rocket Dog sneaker shoes. They look so beat up because I have literally had them since high school. I know I look so young it could have been yesterday but, alas it was not... Either way, they are fantastically confortable and I try and take care of them as best as I can because I haven't been able to find anything else like them. I do think they need a trip to my shoe guy though, there is a teeny hole that I should get taken care of. Also, Tiffany silver earrings and the yellow alley bag jam packed with all the junk from the week gone by.

                                      April 9, 2010

Today is so blah outside but, TGIF!!! I can't muse much because I am running late but, here's the outfit...
                                      • Top: black and white striped long sleeved t-shirt from the Proenza Schouler capsule collection at Target
                                      • Bottom: Marisa jeans from Ann Taylor Loft. (YAY Casual Friday)
                                      • Shoes & Accessories: red patent flat American Eagle via Payless, my abuela's vintage silver hoop earrings, and (I changed it up) gray Balenciaga Le-Dix/motorcycle bag
Items from this outfit are previously seen here.

                                      April 5, 2010

Right about now I am very strongly wishing that I had a three day weekend for the Easter holiday like just about everyone I know. It is going to be about 73° and that is great weather for doing anything! Heading into the office is not my idea of a good time but, I gotta bring home some bacon and am getting ready for the day while fighting every urge not to wear yoga pants. Hopefully the day will go by quickly...
                                      • Top: pink Ann Taylor Loft rosette embellished t-shirt
                                      • Bottom: gray pinstripe wide-leg pants(via Kohl's)
                                      • Shoes & Accesories: black pointy toe flats (via DSW), black Fendi spy bag, gray shell earrings (gift from BF's mom)

                                      April 2, 2010

This week has gone by very quickly, thank goodness! I am looking forward to the beautiful weather this weekend and celebrating the holiday with family and friends. Easter was always an occasion when my mom would take my brother and myself to get spiffy new Easter outfits and as an adult I still have the overwhelming urge to do just that but, in the spirit of responsibility I have opted to shop in my closet for a fabulous and appropriate outfit to wear. Perhaps I will let you have a glimpse on Sunday... as for today:
                                      • Top: green 3/4 length scoop-neck t-shirt from Target with brown houndstooth jacket from Ann Taylor Loft.
                                      • Bottom: Marisa jeans from Ann Taylor Loft. (YAY Casual Friday)
                                      • Shoes & Accessories: brown/black snake embossed ballet flats from Target, long brass and ribbon necklace from Ann Taylor Loft with Elizabeth Showers Vintage mother of pearl earrings. I will also be keeping all my crap in a patent leather purple Coach purse. I will probably throw a pashmina in there to keep warm as I walk to my car since it's still a little nippy outside.
