Sandal-foot

This ensemble was another example of me not appropriately judging the season that we are in. It wasn't as serious as "sweater-gate" but, there was a definite disconnect between what I had selected over the weekend based on the weather report and the actual weather. The swap that I made from the original ensemble was sandals for shoes, a simple but, awesome smart move. When else am I going to wear the oodles of sandals that are occupying space in my shoe closet?
  • Top: maroon dolman sleeve blouse, Style & Co.
  • Bottomyellow/brown and rainbow plaid skirt, WDNY
  • Shoes & Accessoriesbronze gladiator sandals with genuine stone embellishments, bo'em; coin pearl necklace, V'ta Jewelry; coin pearl earrings, gift

Separates Attract

I know, I know, my secret is out, we Hubby took all of my outfit pictures over the weekend. It was better for me given my schedule between gym, work, and this certification/professional development test prep class I am in for the next few weeks. The only issue with advance outfit planning/pictures is that I have to rely on the weather as it is available over the weekend and as we all know meteorology can sometimes feel about as scientific and accurate as fortune telling. I was under the impression that yesterday and today were supposed to be rainy and terrible so, I went with pants and was even getting ready to tuck them into my boots on the way to work... maybe a little overkill.

If you had followed along with my foray into the world of Wordpress you might have seen the post I wrote about suit separates/faking a suit. That's the vibe I am getting from my outfit today even though that was not necessarily my intention. Although, it should have been because I have a recruitment event today but, I digress... As you read (and could probably deduce) most all of my suits don't fit me. I resemble a child playing dress up. It's frustrating to say the least, Suits don't grow on trees! But, enough about my wardrobe "problems," I'll make it work. Overall, I like the way this "suit-esque" ensemble came out even though I wasn't distinctly trying to fake a suit. What do you prefer, suits or separates?

eShakti.com Picks: Fall 2012

I feel like everywhere I look fall is creeping in. While I love the crisp weather, seasonal celebrations, and fabulous fashions these things will never replace my deep, unwavering romance with summer. That being said I can' t keep the seasons from changing and I need to embrace the impending shift. What better was to do that than with some gorgeous dresses. eShakti.com's fall line is truly beautiful! There are so many options for different occasions and personalities in a plethora of colors and patterns.

These are a few of my favorite picks from Fall 2012 but, eShakti's stock is always in flux and they are continuously adding new styles everyday. On top of that eShakti, com is currently having an unprecedented sale with 40% off specific selections for Labor Day, 25% off Summer styles, and a pre-season 25% off of their Fall line. May 5, 2010: So Mom

Everything about this outfit scream "Mom" to me. No, not your Mom, my Mom! It might be because alot of the items in this outfit were originally hers but, I could completely see her wearing this outfit minus the shoes plus shorter pants (she's a half a foot shorter than me.) That crazy teal pop of color is all me!

Rainbow Tights Week

As I continue to iterate, Santa was very good to me this year, thanks big guy! One of this things that was on my wish list after I saw them all over the blogosphere was colorful tights (because I am wearing my purple ones to death) and when I asked he (AKA my fab family and friends) answered! Those teal babies were only the beginning...

I'd like to introduce you to my new rainbow hosiery collection. They are just itching to be worn so, I am declaring next week Rainbow Tights Week! That's right 4 days of business casual attire with some bright show stopping legs in the mix. Why not 5 days, you ask? Well, Casual Friday + Tights = I don't know I'm bad at math. Maybe I can make it work we shall see... If you are interested in joining me grab the banner and leave me a comment, I will link back to you at the start.

Weekend Wear: A Ruby Anniversary

One of my dearest friends parents (who are also very dear to me) are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary next weekend. Congratualtions to them!! My friend, her brother, and sister-in-law are throwing them a party this weekend (to throw them off) and I was more than happy to attend and help out! In terms of what to wear and the gift I was at a loss. It was a casual affair but, still a special ocassion so... jeans? They're fancy and in italics so, that must be right. How about a shirt that "matches" the year's gift? Sounds good to me but, what is that? Plus, what do you get a couple of parents who seemingly have everything?

I'm sure everyone knows that for a 25th wedding anniversary you are supposed to buy the couple or your respective spouse silver, for the 50th anniversary it's gold and so on... but, what about the other anniversaries that are in no way less significant? Well, that's what the internet is for! The 40th wedding anniversary is the ruby anniversary so, I promptly headed out to the store to buy my friend's parents the biggest ruby I could find... then I snapped back to reality and realized I am quite cash poor and needed to find a little something that was significant without breaking the bank. Scroll down to see what I came up with... Happy Anniversary Anne and Rufus!
  • Top: maroon sweater, ABStudio via Mom with a white tank top underneath for the modesty

Disclaimer: That is a heart to signify their love and anniversary-ness... I am not pregnant!
BF seemed to think this picture gave that message.

December 2, 2010: Crack of Dawn

I know you're all curious about my fun surprise from BF. He took me to see Cirque du Soleil's Wintuk! I was a bit skeptical at first since it is a more family geared production but, it did not disappoint. If any of you are in the NYC area I would recommend getting tickets since this will be it's final season here.

Yesterday morning I had a meeting in White Plains (40+ minutes north of NYC for those of you not from around here) at 8:30 in the morning. It was hard to get out of bed so early and make it there on time after the fun night out on the town but, keeping the outfit simple definitely helped! Skinny pants are a life saver.

You might be thinking that I wore this outfit already but, naturally you are seeing things and going crazy because I would never repeat an outfit!! Well, at least not in the time frame of this year... I did wear a similar outfit during my "You've Got This" Fall challenge. Fortunately for all of us I'm keeping track.
  • Top: maroon sweater, ABStudio via Mom with a white tank top underneath for the modesty
  • Bottom: gray really skinny pants, GAP/gift from BF
  • Shoes & Accessories:  leopard print flats, New York & Company; silver and garnet tiered earrings, Pennyweights; silver bag, L.A.M.B via Loehmanns

November 5, 2010: Morning After

The gala was so much fun! I was out till that wee hours of the morning sharing drinks and good times with friends and colleagues. Speaking of colleagues... can I just tell you how most of the people I work with didn't recognize me?! Even my own boss who I see every darn day did a double take! I didn't think I looked that different but, apparently I was wrong.

The morning was a less glamorous affair, since it was supposed to be rainy and gross. Thankfully I had nothing important going on.
  • Top: maroon ribbed tank top, Old Navy with another tank top underneath for the modesty; gray flyaway cardigan, New York & Company
  • Bottom: denim jeggings, LOFT/birthday gift from Mom
  • Shoes & Accessories: Regal black rain boot, courtesy of Cougar; gray shell earrings, gift from BF's mom; black Spy Bag, Fendi

Night Out: 21st Birthday

For my brother's actual birthday BF and I picked him up from work and took him out for a drink. He was actually going to just go to school, work, and home without doing anything to celebrate! Crazy, I know... I started to put together an outfit for going out and realized that I didn't need to be dressed in my normal chic bar going attire. We were just going to a local establishment and I didn't want to be completely overdressed in such a super casual place. So, I revisted what I would wear the bar in my college years...
  • Top: red graphic tee, Noisebot
  • Bottom: trouser jeans, GAP
  • Shoes & Accessories: purple flip flops, Bitten via Steve and Barry's; polka dot scarf, New York and Company. I think the scarf dresses the super casual look up just enough without being over the top; Cerises Pochette, Louis Vuitton. This bag is the perfect size for going out. Just enough room for cash/ID, cell phone, and lipgloss.
