August 24, 2012: An All Day Outfit

While Friday tends to be a more casual day there are some mornings where it doesn't matter that it's almost the weekend, I just want to be my fancy self! It's a vicious cycle... Thankfully, wearing any office appropriate dress is a nice compromise between polished and comfortable. This dress in particular is a great example because it is made of light, stretchy (but, not super tight) material. I have no idea what company it's from I found it in the madness that was The Big Fat Flea. Have you ever been? What did you think? My only gripe about the dress is the awkward diagonal seam that goes right under my stomach and definitely (or I'm paranoid) highlights that area... awkward but, easy enough to forget about because of the extreme comfort.

While my ensemble was great for the office, with brownie points (in my mind) for keeping it super professional on a summer Friday it was also perfect for a night out on the town. I met up with a good friend of mine whose visiting from Florida. We had a delish dinner and took in a play. You guys might think that everyday living in New York City is like that for everyone but, I can assure you it's not... at least not for me. On the average day I'm just happy to get home after work and take some time to catch up on blog stuff, hang out with BF, do responsible adult things like clean/laundry, and catch up on my DVR. Yes, my 20-something life is indeed glamorous...
  • Top: black sheath dress, no tag via The Big Fat Flea; gray ruffle front cardigan, LOFT/gift from BF's parents
  • Shoes & Accessories: black flip flops, Rocket Dog via DSW; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; silver watch, Fossil; Neverfull GM, Louis Vuitton/gift from BF

December 22, 2011: Saved For A Rainy Day

No, it wasn't actually raining... This outfit seemed like such a no brainer but, since I am trying to wear all the things in my wardrobe without a repeat outfit I guess I have been subconsciously avoiding that type of look. If I let myself I might wear these pants all the time. I feel like if I always wear what naturally comes to mind first then there would be a high potential for repeats in general. Maybe I am underestimating myself...

  • Topyellow floral patterned sweater, Dana Buchman for Kohl's
  • Bottomblack knit pants, New York & Company

October 17, 2011: Floating In On The Breeze

Hello Everyone! That's right I am back from my mini vacation. I had so much fun with my cous and definitely could have used a few more days in the Windy City with her but, it was time to come back to reality home.

It was back to work yesterday and I just wanted to be comfy while I was getting down to business (my inbox was bonkers!) So I went with pieces that I thought would be professional and (extra) comfy all at the same time. I think that will be the theme for the rest of the week.

I'm not sure that I will get today/tomorrow's outfits up in a super timely manner since I have late meetings both days but, I am going to try to make Thursday the day for outfit posts if I don't!

  • Top floral print t-shirt, Vera Wang for Kohl's; black pinstripe blazer, Calvin Klein (part of this suit)
  • Bottom: black wide leg knit pants, New York & Company
  • Shoes & Accessories: black suede sneaker shoes, Rocket Dog; my abuela's vintage silver hoop earrings; beige linen satchel, Volcom courtesy of Lulus.com/Blogger's Night Out

September 8/9, 2011: KO'd

Sorry for the blip in posting. I have actually been slightly sick since Monday (fooled you didn't I?) and burning that candle at both ends while experiencing persistent symptoms (fever, sore throat, ridic congestion) was not a good idea. I completely crashed Thursday night when I got home in the early evening. Yes, that's right I missed all the FNO events... it's ok, I will survive. Fighting throngs of people for free manis or hair styling just didn't seem like as much fun as sleeping.

Thankfully the R&R gave me enough strength to power through yesterday and work plus the fun stuff in the evening. I got to go to a fun event last night thanks to an invite Katy from Modly Chic (thanks!) and after that I attended Blogger's Night Out (so much fun!) I will put a post up about all my Fashion Week shenanigans once I have wrapped them all up; No, I'm not finished but, let's talk what I wore.

August 26, 2011: Happy Hour Again?

When friend and I went to the bar for my birthday we went because I had won a happy hour. That night some of the promo girls were going around collecting phone number and email addresses to find another lucky winner. They happened to find one in the boyfriend of a friend so I'm sure you can guess what they plans are for tonight! It would be a nice way to kick off the weekend.

February 11, 2011: Goodbye To Everything That I Knew...

Today is my last day at my current company (peace out) and I am not going to lie I'm a total ball of emotions... Since it is the last chance I am going to have to wear jeans in the office for a while I pleased to be able to do so within the confines of this dress code not being wild and crazy like I was on Wednesday. I'm not really sure how things are going to be next week but, I feel sure that what happens will be positive!
  • Top: purple and white polka dot shirt, Old Navy (same shirt different color here)
  • Bottomdouble waistband denim trouser tailored by me, LOFT Christmas Gift

December 17, 2010: Office Space

Sorry for the lapse in posts, Christmas has been consuming my life as you can see from my slightly disheveled state! But, in the end I think it's been worth it... I'm just waiting for the last of the packages to arrive in the mail and then they can go here with the rest of their friends!

I'll be catching up during my brief respite tomorrow, hopefully I can squeeze everything in before the Christmas road show begins! Friday was the last day that everyone in my department was guaranteed to be present and not completely inundated with work so, we had our holiday office pot luck. I baked cupcakes and wish I had taken a picture because they were pretty festive but, alas... I did not. They were yummy though! I wanted to keep the festive spirit going with my outfit without going overboard, no ugly holiday sweaters here. The little metallic threads in the tunic really did the trick!
  • Top: black Thompson Street Caftan, New York and Company/gift from Mom with a red tank top underneath for the modesty; black cardigan, LOFT
  • Bottom: trouser jeans, GAP outlet
  • Shoes & Accessories: black sneaker/shoes Rocket Dog; gold perforated earrings, New York and Company; gray le-dix/motorcycle bag, Balenciaga

November 19, 2010: Friday Last

Last Friday was like any other Friday, I was so happy for the week to be over. That's kind of how I feel today, except it's Wednesday!! But, while I might be getting out of the office early today (fingers crossed, I mean who doesn't get to leave early the day before Thanksgiving? Actually who even goes in?! but, I digress...) I still have lots of errands to run in preparation for dinner and such. What are your plans for turkey day? Are any of you going to brave Black Friday shopping? Has anyone already started their shopping? Is anybody finished!? I actually know a few people who are already done, gifts wrapped and everything... crazies, I'm jealous!

On that note, throughout the holiday season I do a decent amount of online shopping research so, I am going to be posting deals and cool finds on the 260 Days, No Repeats Facebook/Twitter for your perusal. Who knows, you might find an awesome gift that you might not otherwise have come across so check it out!
  • Top: gray scoop neck t-shirt, Old Navy with a tank top underneath for the modesty
  • Bottom: trouser jeans, GAP outlet
  • Shoes & Accessories: black sneaker/shoes Rocket Dog; black Spy bag, Fendi (not pictured)

June 18, 2010: Free At Last!

It might sound dramatic but, even though I went out Thursday night I was at work early and stayed late. I didn't take the picture until the end of the day which explains why I've got no earrings and my hair is being CRAZY! It also explains why the lighting in the picture is all off, thanks BF AKA evening photographer. Dedication? Maybe. Lots of things to do? Definitely! You can't blame me for feeling trapped! That's why I didn't have a chance to post Friday's outfit until now. Here's a pic of BF and me at the event...

  • Top: green sleeveless shirt with bronze embellishment, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Bottom: Marisa jeans, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Shoes & Accessories: brown flip flops (shhh don't tell they're not really allowed in the office), Rocket Dog via DSW: Purchase here at 30% off; Louis Vuitton Speedy via eBay

June 11, 2010

I am definitely feeling that Friday theme! It has been a looong week. One of the few fun things going on has been this Summer Black-Out Challenge 2010, In retrospect it really wasn't that hard at all but it was, at times, very inconvenient. I applaud Sal and her decision to go all summer without black! I'm sure I could do it but, I think I would get extremely frustrated with that limitation and I want getting dressed to be fun. Therefore, I will allow myself to get back to it and wear black starting Wednesday! (I have a day off on Monday and Tuesday)

In relation to today's outfit: What are you're opinions about graphic t-shirts? During college they were a main staple of my wardrobe but, after graduation I (literally) put them on the shelf and wrote them off. I might have said, at the time, that they were too juvenile but, I really think I just wanted a change of pace. Now that all I wear is business casual they are creeping back into my wardrobe, I'm not sure how I feel about that but, I only kept the ones I love so it can't be all bad, right? For example, today's T says "Haiku's are easy but, sometimes they don't make sense Refrigerator" Hilarious, I know! If you are feeling my t-shirt vibe you can shop the Threadless $10 Sale where ALL T's are $10 until 6/14/10!
  • Top: brown graphic t-shirt, Threadless
  • Bottom: Marisa jeans, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Shoes & Accessories: brown flip flops (shhh don't tell they're not really allowed in the office), Rocket Dog via DSW: Purchase here at 30% off and get free shipping with code 4UDAD until Sunday June 13, 2010; yellow citrine earrings, Elizabeth Showers vintage; limited edition Tracey Emin for Longchamp Pliage via the outlet

May 7, 2010

Yesterday I got SO many compliments on my dress! I love when something so simple and classic can be such cause for conversation!

Today I am not feeling the standard Friday theme. Maybe it's because I had a break mid-week, or because I have alot of work to do, or perhaps it's some other unknown reason... I just can't put my finger on it! Don't get me wrong I love the weekends but, I have a feeling that this one will come and go pretty quickly without that satisfying sense of rest.
  • Top: lilac vintage Lacoste polo, via mom/thrifted
  • Bottom: dark denim capris, random brand that fit via Macy's
  • Shoes & Accessories: black Rocket Dog sneakers; handmade silkscreened scarf from Lyon, France via Little Brother during his study abroad tied as a headscarf for a vintage feel; swarovski crystal earrings, Pennyweights; silver L.A.M.B bag via Loehmann's

May 3, 2010

Rain, rain go away! I thought it was supposed to be April Showers bringing May Flowers! Dressing for a day like this is so hard because I'm not a huge fan of wellies (either way mine don't fit me, my feet shrunk?!?) and I don't want to cover up like crazy because it is still supposed to be near 80°... How would you dress on a day like this? I could use some pointers because I feel like my outfit is a little uninspired.

  • Top: orange embellished t-shirt, New York & Company (similar here) with a tank top underneath for the modesty
  • Bottom: plaid pants, Bitten via Steve & Barry's
  • Shoes & Accessories: black Rocket Dog sneaker/shoes, V'ta multistone earrings (a gift from one of the great ladies who worked there), blue Foley + Corrina City Clutch via Plaza Too

April 26, 2010

First of all, how do you like the new logo/banner? It was made by a very talented and creative design team... my mom and I. And, when I say "my mom and I" I mean I had an idea and she completely bought it to life *thanks mom* with a little technical contribution from me. I think it is pretty amazing and love the fact that it looks a little Jordi Labanda-ish, no? Either way, I hope you enjoy it!

This morning is so gloomy and cold (compartively to the past few days) and it's not helping me want to get ready and leave my warm cozy apartment at all. I think someone should tell Monday that they can't be like this and instead they should be sunny and beautiful so I am more motivated! Now we can come back to reality with today's outfit. Please excuse the random shots, I am still trying to get the timing down... is there something on my face?
  • Top: purple 3/4 length sleeve t-shirt, Target
  • Bottom: black and white tweed pants, Mandee. Yes, you read correctlyMandee. I have had these pants since high school. I don't know if that's something to be proud of or not but, they still fit and are still appropriate so... I keep them. Thank you business casual prep school!
  • Shoes & Accessories: black suede Rocket Dog sneaker shoes, today is just the day for things from high school... V'ta coin pearl necklace, Tiffany silver earrings, and the yellow alley bag

April 16, 2010

I think the common theme for all Friday posts moving forward from now until forever is, "TGIF, I'm beat!" because I am. But, on to more positive things... last night's surprise was so much fun!!

My suspicions were correct, my awesome BF took me to see Cirque du Soleil's OVO. The bug thing definitely gave me the chill's for a second. What? Maybe I'm weird but, I felt that the grasshopper costumes were surprisingly realistic!! In the end the acrobatics and other spectacular physical feats distracted me and I had so much fun. Click below to flip through my pictures...

Moving right along. You may or may not have noticed that there are lots of buttons in the right toolbar now. They are not advertisements they are just feeds that I have 260 Days, No Repeats with so that I can potentially reach more people. Another change is that I think I am actually going to be in the pictures moving forward. There are some online communities that I would like to join but, they require head to toe shots and Lucy doesn't quite fit the bill. I tried it out this morning (I am exhausted and I look it, rocking that bed head, so please don't judge) and it made getting ready alot faster so, it might become a regular thing. I just need to find a good place to put the camera for timer shots. FYI: I will not be posting an outfit on Monday I have a day off, yay me! But, today...
  • Top: pink and blue striped Old Navy t-shirt with a white tank top underneath, New York and Company
  • Bottom: jeans, GAP outlet
  • Shoes & Accesories: black suede Rocket Dog sneaker shoes. They look so beat up because I have literally had them since high school. I know I look so young it could have been yesterday but, alas it was not... Either way, they are fantastically confortable and I try and take care of them as best as I can because I haven't been able to find anything else like them. I do think they need a trip to my shoe guy though, there is a teeny hole that I should get taken care of. Also, Tiffany silver earrings and the yellow alley bag jam packed with all the junk from the week gone by.
