Rainbow Tights Week

As I continue to iterate, Santa was very good to me this year, thanks big guy! One of this things that was on my wish list after I saw them all over the blogosphere was colorful tights (because I am wearing my purple ones to death) and when I asked he (AKA my fab family and friends) answered! Those teal babies were only the beginning...

I'd like to introduce you to my new rainbow hosiery collection. They are just itching to be worn so, I am declaring next week Rainbow Tights Week! That's right 4 days of business casual attire with some bright show stopping legs in the mix. Why not 5 days, you ask? Well, Casual Friday + Tights = I don't know I'm bad at math. January 4, 2011: From Mom

My mother and I are very similar in alot of ways. It's one of those things that I didn't fully realize but, still tried to fight when I was a teenager. Now, I'm cool with it! For one we look like each other... don't you see the resemblance? But, other things like our penchant for word games, hardwood floors, altruistic natures, and love of unique handcrafted jewelry (to name a few) grow day by day. This Christmas (thanks to Mom and the latter) I found this great necklace sitting under the tree. A small group of native Johannesburg, South Africa, artisans, called Inkwenkwezi, began making safety-pin jewelry in 1992 and this is one of those items. I would not have instantly gravitated towards this piece for more than it's novel appearance but, mother knows best (don't tell her I said that) and I am really loving the way it fills in the space around the collar of this sweater. How else would you style this piece? Mom says with a black turtleneck but, I am skeptical...

January 3, 2011: New Year, New Shoes

I feel like I haven't been at work for at least two or more weeks, how about you? With all the craziness of the holidays and snowmageddon it's only actually been about 10 days, my internal clock must be busted. I wonder who you call to get those fixed...

Today the snow is melting but, I really wanted to bust out my new boots. Santa was very kind to me this Christmas and left these lovelies waiting for me under the tree:

Since those didn't fit I exchanged them for these:

They have the best support and actually fit my larger than average calves. Also the delicate floral embossing around the cuff is a lovely subtle detail. On top of the aesthetics these boots are environmentally friendly with a 100% recycled lining and aged oak wood heel on top of a Green Rubber outsole made with 42% recycled material. I wish they were a little taller but, am excited to have found such an ideal pair of riding boots after my long search. I can't wait to style them other ways! How would you wear these fabulous boots?

Night Out: New Years House Party

What did you end up doing for New Years? I was performing in a chorus line... no wait, that's not right. One of my friends had a house party and heading over there before the ball dropped was a no brainer. BF took this picture at 4 in the morning when we got home; I just had to bring down the house with my assorted performing arts skills but, I digress... What to wear took a little more thought. I knew I wanted to keep it casual and wear jeans but, just any old jeans wouldn't do! Thankfully I found these chic trouser jeans while I was exchanging/returning some Christmas gifts at LOFT. These pants had some weird buttons on the pockets that I removed and I hemmed them because apparently I am shrinking but, other than that perfect! I should just quit my day job and become a tailor or a dancer, decisions decisions...

I also knew even though I wasn't going to be super fancy I still wanted to shine and/or sparkle (dancer for sure.) I had this shirt waiting in the wings but, was hoping to come across something else. My fashion prayers were answered when I stopped into TJ Maxx to pick up the last part of the awesome gift my brother I and myself got our mom. Thankfully I still had a little bit of cash left over from the shopping errands I ran for my dad and this glitzy number was on super sale. Mission accomplished now let's dance!
