A Favorite Contradiction

This dress is definitely one of my favorites. If I wasn't trying to wear a different ensemble to work everyday for a year you would be seeing more of this dress, for sure. Naturally, as I considered what items to keep, tailor, donate, or sell from my recent closet purge this dress made it's way into the tailoring pile quickly. When the Jason Wu for Target look book came out this was my absolute favorite of all the items out of the few that I was interested in. On top of that fact it was the only item that I could get my hands on when I went to the store. How could I donate or sell something I all but, had to fight for? Obviously, it wasn't even an option.

While we are in the month of September I am still clinging to summer; It is my (favorite) season. The hotter the better... I realize I am in the minority with that sentiment. Pumpkin spice, Halloween decorations, and changing leaves can put a pin in their inevitable decent. Conversely, the one thing I am excited for is to be able to get back to layering things; Blazers? Yay! Sweaters? Wonderful! While this is contradictory to my appreciation for warmer temperatures it is one of the things I appreciate about the fall season. I am a contradiction, wrapped in an enigma but, I digress...This dress would look so cute paired with a blazer, don't you think?

Purchases & Acquisitions: July 2015

Even though things were crazy last month (and continue to be so) I was still able to find time to do a little shopping... I am talented like that.

Clementine - $29.48 (gift card)
Ashby - $45.28 (secret gift from Hubby)
  • black and white jumpsuit, Mossimo
  • multicolor tank top, Boden
Target - $22.99
  • green crepe shell blouse, Merona
Current Consignment - $39.50
  • beige blazer, Nanette Lepore
  • green gingham blouse, GAP
While I spent $62.49 this past month on clothes (and that's ok I guess) I am more focused on what's coming next in August. As you (should) know it's my birthday month so that means I get lots of things for my birthday and don't shop at all, shop like crazy because it's my birthday and I can, or both. We'll see how it goes.

What was even more exciting than shopping was getting all of the items that I dropped off at the tailor back completely fitted to my new body shape. I may or may not have tried everything on and flounced around the house. I can't wait to share them with you too!

August 18, 2011: Unnecessary Hesitation

I have had this amazing dress from eshakti.com for a while and still haven't worn it. Well that is about to change today. The biggest challenge with the dress has been finding a way to make it more work appropriate. For a while I thought that it might not have been professional enough or too dressy/theatrical to wear (I can't really make up my mind) in the office but, after recent discussions I though, "Why not see how it goes" and paired it with some vintage inspired accessories.

Don't forget to check out eshakti.com for amazing customizable pieces that will fit you and your wardrobe needs perfectly. While you're at it use my discount code, 260DAYS0811, and get $20 off of a purchase of $20 or more. It's not good on overstocks but, should work fine on everything else!

Review and Giveaway: eShakti.com

When the people from eShakti contacted me about doing a review for them I was more than happy to oblige because I have head nothing but, great things. They want to make every customer look her absolute best by providing amazing trendy styles and a wide variety of fabrics and color choices in all sizes from 0-26. eShakti ensures the best possible fit and fall by providing all customers with the ability to personalize any item, and when I say personalize I mean bust out the tape measure. You can have a dress made to your exact measurements or request the removal or addition of details so your selection is most flattering for you.  At eShakti, a woman can find exactly what she wants - no compromise. She can ask for the fabric, color, body, styling and sizing that she likes. Never again will a woman have to hear that her size is not available.

On top of all those great things their choices are seemingly endless and evolving. I say that only because when I revisted their website today I noticed all new choices that weren't there a week ago! They have some absolutely gorgeous dresses; so many of them reminded me of things from Anthropologie that would cost twice as much or more! With all the amazing options it really was a difficult decision to make, I even put it to a vote with some of my besties and in the end this was the dress that I selected.
I didn't do exact body measurements but, their size chart is very accurate. It feels like this dress was made for me! I did, however, request the addition of my favorite thing...

That's right... they put pockets in for me! And they are at the perfect height for me!! Even with the modifications it was still quick shipping. I am super satisfied with the dress and the customer service. The only issue (and I would be remiss if I didn't note it) is that the zipper is defective. I feel like it probably just came from a bad batch and if I had actually purchased the dress there would be a simple, no hassle, money-back guarantee on returns. Since I didn't I will probably have to have it replaced by a tailor, O Well...

Now for the fun part: eShakti has been generous enough to offer one of you lucky readers a $20 credit for anything on their website including (of course) custom orders. This giveaway will be until February 10, 2011 and is open to all readers in the US! I will pick the winner via Excel/random.org. Here are the rules: become a follower in Google (if you aren't already) and leave a comment on this post letting me know what you would spend the credit on... Don't forget to add your email so I can contact you! Keep in mind that this is just one of a few fun things I have going on this month there is more to come but, I digress... For bonus entries:
  • 1 bonus entry - "Like" 260 Days, No Repeats on Facebook. Leave another comment letting me know you did this.

April 8, 2010

It's almost Friday and I could not be more excited for this week to be over,... there's nothing heinous going on at work but, spring fever is setting in and all I want to do is be outside even if it is a little overcast!

You may or may not have noticed the difference between the bottom of the sweater and the opening of the skirt. That is due to some craftiness on my (but, mostly my mom's) part... I have had that skirt for a LONG time and absolutely love it first of all because it's classic but also because it had the modern twist of pockets! I LOVE pockets on skirts and dresses. In the past few years I have shed some weight and that skirt is from heavier days. I asked my mom (the expert seamstress) to take up the hem a few inches to a normal knee length because it now sits on my hips and the hem was at my mid calf. The project was a huge success!

I highly recommend altering clothes before you chuck them and go buy new stuff, even if you don't have an expert seamstress like my mom. What you spend in tailoring for a raised hem or adding some buttons will most likely be less then a new piece of clothes and is more than worth it if you love that item.

On to the actual outfit...

  • Top: gray short sleeve sweater with green and white argyle from Target. This is another classic item that Target has rolled out this year (but I bought last year) as well with a slightly different twist.
  • Bottom: black pencil skirt from Old Navy.
  • Shoes & Accessories: black patent leather T-straps from LOFT, jade earrings from Elizabeth Showers Vintage, and yes... you guessed it the purple Coach bag (not pictured)
