April 26, 2012: Comfy Professional

I was on my feet all day at my big spring recruiting event but, it was totally worth it because it was a success. While I was still exhausted the next morning when I woke up I put together a pretty professional outfit, no? I know I've said it before but, you really can't go wrong with a dress! It's such an easy and comfortable, way to present yourself at work while remaining acceptable professional. I was happy with that!

  • Topblack and gray plaid dress with pockets, LOFT; black cardigan, Merona
  • Shoes & Accessoriesblack ruffle embellished flats, Audrey Brooke via DSW; gray swarovski crystal earrings, Pennyweights; Neverfull GM, Louis Vuitton/gift from BF

December 13, 2011: Magic Vest

After putting this outfit together I have decided that this best goes with everything! More specifically every shirt; I have worn it a few different times always with very different button down shirts. I'm not sure why it is that it goes so seamlessly in my mind with a plethora of oxfords that reside in my closet but, it does. Unfortunately, I can't seem to break away from pairing it with this skirt... Now I know what my next challenge is! Also, I wonder what I can pair it with besides an button down shirt, thoughts?
  • Topmagenta pinstripe button down, New York & Company; gray, yellow, and white argyle vest, New York and Company (same vest different color here)
  • Bottom: black pencil skirt (with pockets), New York & Company

August 9, 2011: Channeling Drowned Rat

Yesterday was pretty rough... hence no post. My boss was out sick which was kind of a blessing and a curse. You face the temptation to slack off because there is no one there to check in on you but, you know you have to get everything done anyway. Don't worry, I took care of business.

The only liberty I took yesterday was leaving 10 minutes early so that I could make my train. Good thing I did because it was pouring outside when I left; open toe shoes + torrential downpour = serious challenge. I honestly almost missed my train and got drenched in the process! I swear my hair was straight in the morning and there was a jacket in my ensemble but, I used it as an umbrella to keep myself dry. Not, the most effective thing as you can see.
  • Topyellow ruffle collar shirt, LOFT; black blazer, Ann Taylor (not pictured)
  • Bottomblack, gray, and white skirt (with pockets), Target
  • Shoes & Accessories: black patent leather t-strap pumps, LOFT; silver and pearl earrings, Elizabeth Showers Vintage; purple tote bag, Coach

December 1, 2010: A Surprise

There is a crazy rainstorm going on outside but, it's ok I have something special to look forward to tonight and that is definitely putting a smile on my face! Whenever BF says he has a surprise for me we all know it's gonna be good. With that in mind I had to keep my outfit away from the super casual side of things since I will be heading straight into midtown after work. I think the boots will transition appropriately despite all the rubber because of these awesome motorcycle details!

Maybe I'm over-dressing for this event tonight but, I was taught (and still firmly believe) that when you head to a show or any sort of live theatre(ish) production that you dress it up a little. I'm not talking black tie fancy but, definitely not ratty jeans and a t-shirt.  It completely irks me when you are going to the ballet or a musical and people are wearing something that doesn't look appropriate for grocery shopping let alone a night out. Do you agree? What would you wear for a night out on the town?
  • Top: purple scoopneck sweater vest, New York and Company with a tank top underneath for the modesty; gray flyaway cardigan, New York and Company
  • Bottom: black pencil skirt (with pockets), Old Navy
  • Shoes & AccessoriesRegal black rain boot, courtesy of Cougar (please don't forget to take the survey is you haven't already); black tights, Just My Size via CVS; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; silver bag, L.A.M.B via Loehmanns

June 29, 2010: Back To Reality

The long weekend was great and I am very much looking forward to this one coming up for the 4th but, I could definitely use a longer vacation (who doesn't want more time off?) My birthday is right around the corner... that is a reason for a getaway, wouldn't you say?

On another note, does anyone else read the title of this post and have this song pop into their head? Maybe it's just me...
  • Top: green sleeveless collared shirt, Ann Taylor Loft via Melissa
  • Bottom: gray, black, and white skirt (with pockets), Target
  • Shoes and Accessories: silver gladiator sandals, Isaac Mizrahi for Target (similar here); Tiffany & Co. silver bead earrings; cut steel necklace, V'ta Jewelry; blue Foley + Corrina City Clutch via Plaza Too

Weekend Wear: Perfect Roadtrip Outfit

This past (long) weekend was spent with BF working on my tan at the shore and celebrating our anniversary. It was great to lay back and relax for a few days away from all the craziness of the home front. My biggest goal when getting ready for the weekend was to be as comfortable as possible on the 3ish hour long drive. Our super awesome Honda Fit (pictured with me) is deceptively small AKA roomy inside but, every little bit of added comfort helped. Normally I prefer much more structured clothes but, this dress was perfect for the weekend as an outfit for traveling and then a beach coverup! What are the items of clothes that you love because they serve more than one purpose?
  • Top: black and white striped trapeze dress (with pockets), Old Navy
  • Shoes & Accessories: silver beaded flip flops, Target; coin pearl earrings, borrowed from mom then altered; blue Foley + Corrina City Clutch via Plaza Too

June 1, 2010

Today starts my foray into theme weeks of my own creation and conscious utilization of spring trends! I am being joined by Frances Joy at Mad Dress Game! It's not too late to join us if your interested...

I've got ruffles today! I was gifted this shirt in the fall (I think) but, these ruffles are still spot-on! I am head to toe LOFT today! I'll take a sponsorship please, thanks. I have to laugh at my outfit shot because this picture looks super posed but, it's not it's just the best out of the five I snapped in a hurry before I bolted to work.
  • Top: white ruffle button down blouse, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Bottom: gray skirt, Ann Taylor Loft
  • Shoes & Accessories: black patent leather t-strap pumps, Ann Taylor Loft; tourmaline earrings, V'ta; black Fendi spy bag

May 4, 2010

I went into work early this morning so I didn't have time to post this before I left but, here it is in the after hours.

I have been reading lots of other fashion blogs as you can see from my list (which keeps growing.) I was inspired by academichic's gray and yellow ensemble from the other day and tried to channel it with things I have. I think it came out pretty well! When I met up with my dad after work he said I didn't match and he is a man of few words... How do you think I did?
