Friday Already?

Is it really Friday? Excellent! This (short) week has (seemingly) flown by and even though we are coming off of a (hypothetically) relaxing long weekend I am more than ready to have another little break. Having a long weekend can be extremely productive if you stay home but, if you go away all of your "fun" weekend chores spill over into the week which is what I have been contending with. Grocery? Nope. Laundry? Barely. Tidying up? Hahaha, you're funny but, I digress...

Today I gave up on my attempts to avoid jeans, which are normally allowable, on casual Friday. I had my reasons, at the beginning of the week when I put all these fabulous outfits together it was supposed to be cooler... thanks for lying, the weather. Also, it has been a crazy week (see aforementioned) and I am embracing the laid back attitude of casual Friday. Overall, I wanted to and is there any better reason that that?

August 20, 2010: Twice In A Row

Today is another "need to be comfy" day (this time it's BF who needs an early morning ride) cleverly disguised as casual friday and the perfect excuse to rock my jeggings. I am a total convert but, I digress...  Today's fantastic and comfy outfit makes me feel (on some level) like I'm relying to much on clothes that could be worn when the weather gets a bit cooler and that I'm not utilizing all my warm weather things to their best advantage. I could totally see myself wearing this exact same outfit, for example, with a scarf/ballet flats and it being perfect for the fall but, according to my official rules that would be cheating. O well, I will make it work when the temperature starts to drop!

As for today, I'm sure you would (correctly) expect that I am so excited this week is over, especially after these past two days of early morning rising. At least I have fun things to look forward to this weekend. Dinner with one of my besties after work today and a visit from my fav cousin tomorrow... fun times! Maybe I'll snap some pictures while we're out and about. What are your plans this weekend?
  • Top: gray v-neck top, Old Navy with a tank top underneath for the modesty
  • Bottom: denim jeggings, LOFT birthday gift from Mom
  • Shoes & Accessories: gladiator sandals, Christian Siriano for Payless; rainbow beaded earrings, via now defunct Moxie Bee; purple Coach bag

August 12, 2010: Double Take

Yesterday was surprising for me in that apparently curly hair is no big deal! Barely anybody commented (IRL) on it, I'm not sure if that's disappointing or negligible. I guess there are other things to focus on at work besides the state of my locks. Today it's up in a messy bun because I am in a rush and it's being a little wild. This easy fix is the one thing I missed about curly hair! This bun looks alot more interesting than one with pin straight hair. Maybe it was all the humidity and "nature" that I was exposed to at Boscobel last night... I would actually recommend going to take in some Shakespeare or just the beautiful gardens if you have the time but, bring bug spray! Here are a few shots of last night before the show started:

Today's outfit might seem similar to you and that's because it is! I wore an almost identical outfit in July and I'm not sure which works better. In the previous one I was just looking for something that "matched" with but, I think this might "go" better. Let me know what you think in the poll below!
  • Top: coral embellished tank top, LOFT via Mom
  • Bottom: blue polka dot skirt, New York and Company (same skirt on the weekend here)
  • Shoes & Accessories: gladiator sandals, Christian Siriano for Payless; gold perforated earrings, New York and Company; brown leather tote, Bulga

July 8, 2010: Second Hand Treasures

I would just like to follow up on yesterday's post. The dress was very well received by everyone in my department who cared to notice, including my bosses. In fact, I got lots of compliments. So, I'm happy with that!

Moving along... Do you ever have those moments where you look at your closet and think, "What is all of this? Time to clean!"? That happens to me alot and just a few days ago the mood struck my mother. I love to help her go through her clothes, give her honest feedback, and snag a few pieces that she is letting go. This top is one of those gems! What are some of your secondhand finds that you absolutely love?
  • Top: coral embellished tank top, LOFT via Mom
  • Bottom: pink and coral polka dot skirt, New York and Company (same skirt different color here)
  • Shoes & Accessories: gladiator sandals, Christian Siriano for Payless. I decided to keep them (obviously, which brings my June spending total to $9.00! I'm breaking the bank, haha) and ended up going with the 8.5 (I'm normally a 9) so they are a little tight but still comfortable and, I know will stretch just enough; gold and mixed metal earrings, gift from my co-worker Natalia/free gift with her purchase from ModCloth; blue Foley + Corrina City Clutch gifted via Plaza Too

Puchases: June 2010

This month's shopping was light like last month.... the only thing that I bought was a pair of Christian Siriano for Payless sandals that I have been obsessing over for while because they went on super duper sale. The catch is that I'm not exactly sure what size I am so, I might end up returning what I ordered if the don't fit. I'm going to the store today to pick up my package so we shall see... it might end up being no purchases in June whatsoever if they don't work out!
