This is the last minute of the one year of no repeated outfits! Wow guys, I can't believe that it is over and that I actually did it!! I will be spending the weekend summing everything up in what I expect to be a fairly epic post but, it's safe to say:

Featured: Fab Finds Under $50
I didn't know that I had been selected for the March Inspiration Calendar over at Fab Finds Under $50. Check out the other looks too!
The Lost Days
March 9, 2011
Honestly, this was sooo long ago that I can't remember anything about the outfit or why I picked it out. It's just another day, where I wear clothes...
Items from this outfit are previously seen and remixed here, here, here, here, and here.

- Top: maroon sweater, ABStudio via Mom with a white tank top underneath for the modesty

- Shoes & Accessories: black pumps, Nine West; black headband, CVS; black belt, New York & Company; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; black Spy Bag, Fendi (not pictured)
March 10
I felt like I was really pushing the envelope when I put this outfit together or at least I was trying to... Mixing brown and black?! Madness! And look at the craziness corsage on my shoulder. It was really hard to keep the skirt hiked up even with the belt. In theory it was a good ensemble in reality, it didn't play out so well but, you live and you learn.
- Top: aqua corsage embellished top, Vera Wang
- Bottom: brown and orange tweed pencil skirt, LOFT
- Shoes & Accessories: black pumps, Candies via Kohl's; black belt, New York & Company; gray tights, We Love Colors; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; purple tote bag, Coach
March 11
This was the beginning of Friday as skinny pant day. Since I can't wear jeans anymore on the regular I needed to find someway to differentiate the end of the week from the start of the weekend; this seemed like the obvious choice. It also worked well for the events of the day, as well as, the night. Transitioning fantastically from work to dinner then drinks and birthday festivities for a dear friend until sunrise...
- Top: black and white print dress, White House Black Market; black long cardigan, New York and Company
- Bottom: gray really skinny pants, GAP
- Shoes & Accessories: red patent leather flats, Payless; black belt, New York and Company; silver bead earrings, Tiffany & Co.; black Spy Bag, Fendi

Happy Belated Birthday to BF!! Not that I didn't say it a million times that day but, you don't know that... The fun thing we did the celebrate his special day was nothing. I came home a little early from work with a cake (surprise) then we sat around and watched TV. He was so in his element and loving every minute of it!

Happy Belated Birthday to my Daddy! Not that I didn't say it a million times that day but, you don't know that... I'm big on birthdays, you know should know that by now! My father was more than happy to appease me and come to dinner at a restaurant of my choosing, Puerto Rican cuisine is his favorite so I searched for a truly authentic place and found one not to far from the house. They also had karaoke and salsa! That combined with excessive amounts of mojitos and sangria made for a fantastic birthday night. He had fun as well!
- Top: orange crochet neck blouse, LOFT (same shirt different color here, here, here, and here) with a tank top underneath for the modesty; khaki safari jacket, LOFT(same jacket different color here and here)

Day after birthday celebration Iris was wishing she had never heard of sangria or maybe just wishing she had paid attention to the mental curfew she has set for herself. Dragging myself out of bed that morning was NO fun. The entire day was a count down to the moment I could head home and a shower and my bed if you couldn't tell from the look on my face.
- Top: yellow ruffle collar shirt, LOFT;brown houndstooth jacket, LOFT
- Bottom: brown pants, New York & Company
- Shoes & Accessories: teal leather flats, Aldo via Re/Dress NYC; multi-stone tiered earrings, handmade in Peru/local store; purple tote bag, Coach outlet

The shower and sleep helped so much, don't you think? On St. Patricks Day, I did wear the traditional green and after work fled the city to avoid all the people who had been drinking since 8:00 in the morning. On the 5:40 train I found some of them passing out already, mostly the high schoolers... silly youngins'

March 30, 2011: I Laugh With Broken Teeth
Guys, I cracked a tooth! I would take pictures too but, it's a molar. First let me say that you should really take care of your teeth which I try my very best to. That being said, pony up the dough and go to a decent dentist. The last guy I went to on Sketch Street off of Shady Road seemed nice but, obviously did a really crappy job with my filling. It had been bugging me for a while but, I don't have dental insurance yet with this new job so I put it on hold. But, my tooth must not have heard that it needed to wait another 60 days before it started acting up more and decided to crack, that jerk! So, I am headed off the dentist for an emergency appointment then to work because I also don't have time off yet, FUN!
Also, I'm wearing clothes... very similar to this outfit.

March 29, 2011: Reaching Beyond The Ordinary
When I started with this outfit it was terribly unimpressive. Solid colored sweater? Check. Solid colored skirt? Check. Black pumps? Check Scratch that, I almost put myself to sleep with that boring nonsense! Thank goodness I have an excellent ok memory and remembered these fantastic tweed shoes that I haven't worn in quite a while. They are from a time before I had my shopping under control and whatever struck my fancy and was priced "within reason" would come home with me. I guess on some level I'm happy I was so unencumbered by fiscal responsibility because now I have a pretty fabulous selection of accessories. On another level I'm sad because it will not continue to grow as it had been... Do I have a matching bag to go with these shoes? I may or may not... If so, is it tiny and completely impractical for the more grown up Iris? Yes. What an inexperienced fashionista I was, paying close attention to such silly fashion rules! But, I digress... I'm shocked that year one is almost finished and there are still things in my closet/accessory collection that I haven't worn on this blog yet. Do I sense a year two coming? Perhaps.
- Top: lime green scoopneck sweater (same sweater different color here, here, and here)
- Bottom: gray pencil skirt, New York & Company

March 28, 2011: Time Flies When Your Super Busy
I can't believe that I am almost at the end of one year wearing no repeats to work! It seems like only a month or two ago I started. Maybe that's why I almost repeated an outfit this morning. Thankfully, I have been very accurate in my cataloging of outfits. I guess you can't help leaning towards your first instinct, too bad I already went with that! On a related note, I have almost finished compiling all of my "lost outfits" you know... the ones I've been too busy to post. Thank goodness because it's just about time for me to sum it all up. I wonder where I'll find time for that?

FBFF: I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar - Feminism in Fashion
1. Do you think there is an incompatibility between feminism and a love for fashion?
Not at all, I think there is only incompatibility if you perceive there to be some. You should dress in a way that makes you comfortable and if that involves shopping and fashion then go for it! If it doesn't then that's cool too! I do think that when it comes to fashion women have a serious advantage over men, there is no equality here. Men's clothes is generally boring and stagnant. Women's fashion has a life of it's own and is constantly changing.
2. There is more to each of us than a love for fashion, how do you incorporate every aspect of yourself into your blog?
To be honest, I don't think I do and that's ok. My blog is about what I wear it isn't focused on my personal life, what I do, where I go, what I cook, crafty things I do, etc. but, those are all things that are part of me. Honestly, I don't think I would ever leave my computer if I incorporated those things as well.
3. With the fashion industry still being a male-dominated profession, how do you think it would differ if women played a larger role?
Maybe it would be a little more realistic (especially advertising) and all fashion would be more attainable to everyone. But, maybe I'm just being hopeful.
4. How is your self-image and the way you carry yourself informed by your beliefs?
This is a tricky question. In a nutshell, I believe I'm worth it so I try and dress the part. Does that make sense?
5. Do you think clothing/makeup/hair helps communicate the truth about yourself or are those things superfluous add-ons?
I think all those things absolutely help communicate appropriateness which is one thing I strive to attain. It differs across situations but, I want to be dressed well for whatever situation because that definitely makes me feel comfortable and ready to deal with whatever I might have to!

March 22, 2011: Everything Comes Naturally
I almost can't believe that it has taken me so long to wear this skirt. I was so excited to get it in the mail after customer service from Lafayette 148 got in touch with me regarding the unfortunate demise of the one I picked up while I was on vacation. Don't you remember? No? Well you need to visit me here more often and keep up...
I went in the opposite direction in terms of colors to pair with it this time. Last time it was vibrant yellow, this time a color palette that is al natural. I feel a bit like I'm channeling mossy tree but, I kind of like it despite the fact that it is such an unlikely color combination for me. What is the most out of the box color combo you've ever put together?

March 21, 2011: Back From Beyond
No, you're not seeing a mirage, I am the real Iris. Sorry for my absenteeism; life, work, and catching a wicked cold have really messed with my outfit posting rhythm. I'm trying to get back in the groove and in an effort not to get even more behind think it's best to just jump right back in with today's outfit. I know we are missing almost a week and a half of outfits but, I promise I took pictures each and everyday and I will get those up ASAP.
It feels like spring has sprung here and I could not be happier. I will take the proverbial April showers over snow any day! That being said there is still a chill in the air so we're not quite at the point where outfits like this are appropriate yet but, I know it's coming and that makes me happy. What types of warm weather clothes are you most excited to wear?

FBFF: Better Late Than Never/Finding Balance
1. When it comes to prioritizing your life, in what place does blogging fall?
Blogging used to fall much higher on my list of priorities but, right now I feel like there are other things I need to focus on besides getting every post up in a timely fashion. I'm still snapping pictures everyday but, I constantly feel like I'm trying to catch up with everything.
2. We all wish we had more free time to dedicate to blogging and all it entails. What are your tricks for taking advantage of the time you do have to be as productive as possible?
Well, I thought picture taking Sundays with BF would be a good way to speed up the process but, that's if we can actually manage to get it done and other (more important) things like errands, groceries, and seeing friends and family don't get in the way.
3. Have you discovered any short-cuts that makes blogging easier or more time efficient?
Honestly, this question seems a bit redundant to me...
4. Do you have an editorial calendar or something similar that helps you plan ahead?
No, I have a regular calendar and some post it's that I use if I have special posts that I want to do but, I have been thinking of getting something a little more streamlined.
5. If time wasn’t an issue what you would be doing on your blog/for your blog that you aren’t doing now?
I think the better question is what wouldn't I be doing. I would learn more about ways to customize my blog. I would post more. I would host and participate in more blog events. I would take more time to take better pictures. I would try and form more partnerships with companies related to my blog content. The list goes on and on...

March 8, 2011: Everybody, Everywear Loves Polka Dots!
On Tuesday I was keeping up with Everybody, Everywear and sporting one of my personal favs, polka dots. While some people might relegate them to children's clothes or retro throwbacks I love it most when I can find them in colors other than black and white. Everyone can't say that they have purple polka dots now can they?

March 7, 2011: Pinned
It might surprise you all (maybe not) to know that I was in a sorority, ΣΔT which is Sigma Delta Tau for all those that don't speak Greek (as a language or due to a panhallenic lifestyle.) It wasn't like all the stuff you hear about in movies or on TV; I was a founding sister of my chapter so to be honest it was a little more like a job! I mean writing bylaws, opening bank accounts, designing and marketing our events, the list goes on and on... it was a good experience overall! When I got a rando Facebook invite to International Badge Day I was more than happy to sport my pin. Where you in a sorority (or a fraternity)? If so what did you like about it the most?

Update: I Complete You Product Challenge
No, that's not the same bottle of lotion from last time, just the same company. This one was "grapefruit" scented. I learned I love grapefruits, as in the real fruit to eat not so much the scent of it as a lotion. This one in particular was very spiced, musky, or "medicine-y" as my new boss put it when she asked me not to wear that smell anymore. Yeah, that was awkward... I guess some people are are sensitive to different smells. Thankfully I was almost done. Would you ask someone to not wear a scent you didn't like? How would you go about it?

February 28, 2011-March 4, 2011: A Week In Retrospect
I did not completely drop of the earth last week, just the blogosphere. The "catching up as quickly as I can" thing got sidetracked by life but, I promise you I did wear clothes last week and thankfully someone (aka BF) was there with a camera to snap some shots. This week I am going to try something a little different, we'll see how it goes...
Monday was just like any other Monday, getting back to work. I mean who is excited about Monday? You would be absolutely wrong if you guessed me...
Tuesday was bingo night and this August I will be turning 88... just kidding! There is a bar downtown that does bingo on Monday and Tuesday nights so a bunch of friends decided to go and check it out. Since I knew I was going out after work I wanted to be comfortable, although for a night out I probably could have stepped up the glam factor a little bit. I wasn't a big winner but, it was a good time.
Wednesday was a sad day. I got an email from my high school alumni office stating that a classmate's mother had passed away. Since the graduating class my year was only about 48 people this was definitely someone I knew so I decided to pay my respects at the wake after work. Thankfully I didn't have to go alone, one of my other classmates and close friends came with. It was a very surreal experience and really makes you grateful for the things that you have.
On Thursday I wanted to brighten up my mood so I pulled out this brand new sweater that my Mom got me. It was one of the first things I saw when we walked into New York & Company and I fell instantly in love. Do you know what I'm talking about? That feeling like, I cannot leave this store without at least trying this shirt, skirt, whatever on! This is why I try to avoid the mall like the plague, it helps me stick with the whole no purchases thing. Unfortunately there are still a few things I would like to add to my new work wardrobe so, I'll have to suffer through...
Friday I was just happy for the weekend! This would have been a great time to wear jeans and get into the spirit of the weekend but, charity day isn't until later this month... I settled for skinny pants, it was ok!
